About Me
Summer is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor. She holds multiple degrees with a Master’s of Science in Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s of Science in Psychology from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also has a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia Southern University in Savannah, Georgia.
Summer has a passion for guiding adolescents, teens, and adults through the ups and downs of life using various therapeutic approaches tailored to each specific individual. In her practice she uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Narrative Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
She is a Certified First Responder Associate Counselor (CFRA) and had an impressive career in law enforcement. While working as an officer she gained valuable experience in dealing with emergency situations and how to treat patients in crisis who have experienced trauma and suffer with PTSD. She is also married to a military veteran and has first hand knowledge of the stress put on first responders and the veterans who serve our country. Summer uses her compassion, experience, and knowledge to treat the whole patient while helping to lay down foundation in building connections, managing stressors, and recovering from past traumas.
