Play Therapy
Seeing your child struggle in his/her young life can be one of the hardest parts of parenting. Knowing how to help with these struggles even harder. The thought of young children in traditional therapy can seem frightening to both parents and children. We at Counsel Connections understand, and would like to introduce you to Play Therapy.
Play Therapy is a fun and highly effective model of therapy for children between the ages of 3-12. It provides a safe, non-threatening, therapeutic experience for children to express themselves in a manner that feels comfortable and natural to them. Young children may not have the verbal skills to thoroughly express what is troubling them. Older children may be reluctant, or not feel able to speak about these things. Play therapy gives them a voice and an outlet to communicate, process, and resolve the stressors in their lives. Play therapy can help children to learn new coping mechanisms and to redirect inappropriate behaviors. It can help children explore their emotions and address unresolved traumas. And the good news is that it is fun as well as healing.
