Dr. Ashley Childress is a dedicated and experienced psychotherapist based in Atlanta, GA, with over a decade of expertise in school social work, behavioral health, and crisis intervention. She is committed to providing compassionate and evidence-based support to children, adolescents and young adults, leveraging her extensive clinical experience in individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and trauma-informed care. Dr. Childress has a proven track record of developing and implementing effective coping mechanisms and behavior modification techniques. She excels in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, such as nurses, psychologists, case managers, counselors and social workers to create comprehensive care plans and support at-risk populations.
Her exceptional communication and interpersonal skills have been instrumental in supporting individuals’ well-being through targeted interventions and crisis management. Dr. Childress holds a Doctor of Social Work from Barry University, where her thesis focused on a trauma-informed approach to the hip hop culture in education. Additionally, she earned her Master of Social Work from Clark Atlanta University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Childress has provided mental health and grief counseling after critical incidents, as she served as the crisis coordinator for one of Metro Atlanta’s largest school districts. She has also served as the Trauma-Informed Care trainer and support for the Social-Emotional Learning division of the Professional Learning department for the district. Dr. Childress specializes in crisis intervention, solution-based interventions, applied behavioral analysis, cognitive disabilities knowledge, and various therapeutic techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and trauma-informed care.
